Patria acquires drone systems manufacturer Nordic Drones
Defense company Patria has acquired Finnish drone systems manufacturer Nordic Drones. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval.
Defense company Patria has signed an agreement to acquire the entire share capital of Finnish firm Nordic Drones Oy. Nordic Drones designs and manufactures drone systems for professional use and provides training for their operators. The company has delivered solutions to over 100 companies and organizations for tasks including aerial photography, mapping, and inspections.
The acquisition is intended to support Patria's growth strategy and enhance its offerings in unmanned systems. Pietari Sorri, Managing Director of Nordic Drones, stated that Patria is the ideal partner to accelerate the company's international expansion.
"Nordic Drones' expertise in manufacturing professional drone systems is a logical reinforcement of Patria's UAS offering," said Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria's Finland Division. Patria views the integration of unmanned systems into defense systems as a prerequisite for addressing contemporary battlefield threats.
The value of the acquisition has not been disclosed. Nordic Drones is based in Muurame, Finland, and employs 10 people. The transaction remains subject to approval by the Finnish Ministry of Employment and the Economy. The acquisition is not expected to affect existing customer or employment commitments.
