Patria and KNDS strengthen cooperation on armoured vehicle project
Defense companies Patria and Germany's KNDS have deepened their cooperation on the European Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) 6x6 project. The agreement covers assembly and final integration for Germany.

Defense companies Patria and Germany's KNDS have deepened their cooperation on the European Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) 6x6 project. The companies strengthened their industrial partnership during a visit to Freisen, Germany, where they discussed the initiation of series production and the expansion of local industrial capacity.
Patria and KNDS Deutschland Maintenance signed a framework agreement in August 2026 for the assembly and final integration of Patria 6x6 vehicles for the German armed forces. The first series-produced vehicles will be manufactured at Patria's facility in Finland. Starting in 2027, the vehicles will be equipped with mission-specific systems, and their final assembly will take place at KNDS's Freisen site in Germany.
"Our cooperation with KNDS is progressing as planned and is an important part of building reliable industrial capacity for Germany's CAVS project," said Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria's Protected Mobility business area. He emphasized that combining Patria's expertise with KNDS's local capabilities enhances supply security, creates value in Germany, and supports the production capacity of the European defense industry.
The CAVS program, led by Patria, was launched in 2020. It offers participating countries a common, modern 6x6 armored vehicle platform while leveraging local industrial capabilities. Currently, Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany, and the United Kingdom are participating in the program.
