Patria and RENK Unveil Next-Generation Unmanned Ground Vehicle Concept

Defense companies Patria and RENK Group AG have presented a concept mock-up for a next-generation heavy unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) at Eurosatory 2026 in Paris. The showcased model combines Patria's modular TRACKX vehicle platform with RENK's HSWL 076 transmission and drive-by-wire mobility architecture.

The collaboration aims to accelerate the transition towards remotely operated and future autonomous land systems. The concept model integrates Patria's expertise in tracked vehicles with RENK's digitalized drivetrain solution, enhancing commonality between manned and unmanned vehicles.

Patria CEO Panu Routila stated that the conflict in Ukraine has underscored the necessity of unmanned systems in modern warfare. RENK CEO Alexander Sagel emphasized the importance of European defense cooperation in rapidly translating innovations into scalable and future-ready capabilities.

The concept addresses the growing demand from armed forces to reduce crew exposure in high-threat environments while maintaining mobility, protection, and mission effectiveness. The vehicle concept is on display at RENK's stand in Hall 6 at the Eurosatory 2026 exhibition.
