Patria Assembles Finland's First F135 Engine

Patria has successfully completed the assembly of Finland's first F135 fighter jet engine at its new facility in Linnavuori, Nokia. As a partner to the Finnish Defence Forces, Patria is responsible for the initial assembly and future maintenance, repair, and overhaul of these engines within Finland.

The completion of the first engine was marked by an event hosted by Patria at the Linnavuori site on September 3, 2026. Production of the engines is scheduled to continue at the facility until 2030, after which maintenance and sustainment activities for the entire F-35 fleet's lifecycle will commence.

Petri Hepola, Chief Program Officer for F-35 at Patria, highlighted the milestone. "Patria’s part of the F-35 program is progressing as planned and has now entered full-scale production. The completion of the first F135 engine is a significant milestone and a strong start for F135 engine assembly in Finland," Hepola stated. He emphasized the successful cooperation and its contribution to Finland's security of supply.

Finland's first F-35A fighter jets are expected to arrive at the Lapland Air Wing in Rovaniemi in autumn 2026. A framework agreement between Patria and Pratt & Whitney for F135 engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO&U) operations was signed in 2024. The agreement is estimated to create approximately 50 jobs at Patria between 2025 and 2030.
