Patria Expands Armored Vehicle Production Facility in Latvia
Defense company Patria is expanding its production facility in Valmiera, Latvia. The expansion will enable the assembly and maintenance of armored fighting vehicles.
Patria Group has begun a significant expansion of its armored vehicle production facility in Valmiera, Latvia, marking the start of construction with a cornerstone-laying ceremony. The expanded facility will not only produce Patria 6x6 armored personnel carriers but also assemble and maintain General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) HUNTER armored fighting vehicles for the Latvian armed forces.
The new production unit, located adjacent to the existing Defence Partnership Latvia facility, aims to bolster the capabilities and self-sufficiency of Latvia's defense sector. It will provide comprehensive lifecycle maintenance services for the vehicles, contributing to national security and resilience.
This investment signifies Patria's long-term commitment to Latvia. The project is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2027, enhancing local industrial capacity and strengthening defense cooperation within NATO.
