Patria expands Valmiera production facility in Latvia
Defense and technology company Patria is constructing a new production facility in Valmiera, Latvia. The expansion will enable local manufacturing and maintenance of armored vehicles and other defense systems.

Defense and technology company Patria began construction of a new production facility in Valmiera, Latvia, in early October. The expansion represents a significant step in increasing the company's production capacity in the Baltic region.
Currently, the Valmiera facility produces Patria 6x6 armored personnel carriers. The new plant will also facilitate other capability development projects for the Latvian National Armed Forces, including the assembly and maintenance of General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) HUNTER infantry fighting vehicles intended for Latvia.
The expansion will significantly strengthen local defense industry capabilities and support NATO security cooperation. Latvian Minister of Defence Raivis Melnis highlighted the project's importance for developing Latvia's defense capabilities and industrial capacity. The company states the new facility will enhance security of supply and resilience, while also supporting Allied defense capabilities.
Patria CEO Panu Routila indicated the investment demonstrates the company's long-term commitment to Latvia. Collaboration with GDELS and the development of local production are expected to expedite the delivery of new defense systems to the Latvian Armed Forces.
The new production facility building is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2027. This investment supports Patria's strategic growth and the development of the defense industry in Europe.
