Defense contractor Patria has awarded the Lapland Air Defence Regiment in Rovaniemi and the North Karelia Border Guard District in Onttola. These recognitions were given for exemplary achievements in developing sports clubs for conscripts as part of the "Get Moving" project.

The three-year "Get Moving" project aims to promote physical activity and a sports-oriented lifestyle during conscript service in the Finnish Defence Forces. The initiative seeks to improve the physical condition and quality of life for young people by establishing varied sports opportunities within training units.

"Our goal has been to establish sports club activities in all training units and to develop them into a permanent arrangement. We hope that by annually rewarding training units with well-organized sports clubs, we will encourage conscripts to engage even more in physical exercise," stated Jukka Holkeri, Chief Marketing Officer of Patria.

The Lapland Air Defence Regiment was commended for its extensive sports club activities, excellent cooperation between staff and conscripts, and for its development of the activities and good guidance. The North Karelia Border Guard District was recognized for its pioneering work in initiating a sports club for conscripts within the Finnish Border Guard, which was established specifically through the "Get Moving" project. Patria, which provides defense solutions, presented kettlebell sets to the recognized units during the opening event of the Finnish Defence Forces' sports year on January 24. The company stated that the active role of the rewarded units in conscript sports paves the way for the development of similar activities in other training units.
