Patria to Cooperate with Valmet Automotive on Armoured Vehicle Production

Defence and aerospace company Patria has entered into an agreement with Valmet Automotive for the technology transfer and production of armoured vehicles. The collaboration is aimed at securing additional production capacity for future demand, even as Patria's own production is currently at a good level.

The technology transfer will commence immediately, with the first Patria armoured vehicles to be produced at Valmet Automotive's facility in Uusikaupunki, Finland, during the latter half of 2026. The commercial value of the collaboration has not been disclosed.

Patria's Executive Vice President of Protected Mobility, Jussi Järvinen, noted the smooth progress of the cooperation with Valmet Automotive. He described technology transfer as a natural part of Patria's business model and an important step in the partnership.

Pasi Rannus, CEO of Valmet Automotive, expressed excitement about the agreement, calling it a significant milestone in their strategy implementation. He highlighted the company's decades of contract manufacturing expertise and its suitability for serial production of various products.

Patria's Protected Mobility business, encompassing programs like the Patria 6x6, Patria AMV XP, and Patria TRACKX, has seen substantial growth. The company has invested in its production facilities in Hämeenlinna, Finland, and Valmiera, Latvia, while continuing to promote its concept for technology transfer and local manufacturing.
