Paul Thomas Anderson Concert Film on Cameron Winter Acquired by Criterion, Janus

Director Paul Thomas Anderson's concert film "Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall" is slated for release across the U.S. and Canada beginning November 20. The distribution rights have been acquired by Criterion Collection and Janus Films.

The film captures a performance by musician Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall, shot by Anderson on 35mm and 16mm film. Winter, the frontman for indie band Geese and a critically acclaimed solo artist, makes his concert film debut with this project. Anderson has a history of directing music videos for artists including Fiona Apple and Thom Yorke.

Additional collaborators on the film include Benny Safdie, co-director of "Uncut Gems," as a co-producer. The accompanying live album from Winter's Carnegie Hall performances is being produced by Grammy-winning engineer Ariel Rechtshaid, known for his work with Adele and Vampire Weekend.

Both Criterion and Janus Films are recognized distributors within the film community. Janus Films has increased its theatrical releases in recent years and distributes films through its partner Sideshow, with many titles eventually available on Criterion Channel. This marks a notable music-focused project for the partnership.

The film tour commences in Santa Monica, California, with over 20 stops planned in cities such as Vancouver, Nashville, Austin, Chicago, and New York. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale September 17.
