Paulig has achieved a significant milestone in its sustainability efforts, becoming the first food and beverage company in Finland to have its climate targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company is supporting the Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign, aiming to limit global temperature rise to a maximum of 1.5°C, aligning with the Paris Agreement.

The targets set by Paulig are among the most ambitious endorsements available through the SBTi process. The company is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from its own operations by 80 percent and from its value chain by 50 percent by 2030, using 2018 as the base year. These goals are part of Paulig's comprehensive sustainability program, announced in April 2020.

"The world is facing environmental challenges, and we recognize our responsibility to all future generations and the future of food. Through our commitment to science-based climate measures, we contribute to mitigating climate change and enable more sustainable choices for consumers and customers," stated Rolf Ladau, CEO of Paulig.

The majority of Paulig's greenhouse gas emissions originate from its value chain, particularly from raw material production. The company plans to continue collaborating with its current suppliers and partners to promote sustainable farming practices, seek new raw materials and partnerships, and develop new business models that support a circular economy. Packaging development remains a key focus area.
