Paulig's Venture Arm PINC Invests in Rainbow Crops

Paulig's venture capital arm, PINC, has invested in the Belgian startup Rainbow Crops. The company is developing an AI-powered platform to create new crop varieties that are more resilient to climate change challenges and offer optimized yields.

Rainbow Crops utilizes advanced AI, genome editing, and precision breeding to develop plants with improved tolerance to drought and heat, as well as more efficient nutrient utilization. The company is a spin-off from the leading Belgian life sciences research institute, VIB, and aims to address future challenges in agriculture.

The investment is PINC's third in 2025 and supports Paulig's broader goal of advancing a sustainable food system. Paulig utilizes many of the crops Rainbow Crops develops, including corn, in its own product lines.

"We are excited about the platform's broad potential, and particularly that the first POC is in corn, which is one of Paulig's top three crops," stated Marika King, Director of PINC. "Rainbow Crops is built on a solid scientific foundation and has impressive collaborations in the making."
