Paytm Subsidiary Secures Payment License in Luxembourg
Paytm's European subsidiary, Paytm Europe Payments S.A., has received a payment institution license from Luxembourg's financial regulator, CSSF, allowing it to offer key payment services.

Indian fintech firm Paytm has obtained a payment institution license for its Luxembourg-based step-down subsidiary, Paytm Europe Payments S.A. (Paytm Europe), from the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF). This approval enables the subsidiary to operate as a significant payment provider within the European market.
The license permits Paytm Europe to execute payment transactions, including credit transfers and standing orders, as well as transactions covered by a credit line. It also allows the company to acquire payment transactions. The subsidiary is officially listed as a payment institution with effect from July 02, 2026.
This development follows a recent €9 million investment by Paytm into its European arm to bolster its paid-up capital and fund its business requirements. Paytm Europe was incorporated in January 2026 and remains fully owned by Paytm Cloud Technologies.
The move into Europe represents a key international expansion for Paytm, building on its previous ventures in markets like the UAE, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia. The company aims to serve underserved small businesses in the region, maintaining complete control over its product, operations, and future growth through its wholly-owned entity.
