PCDJ Updates DEX Software With AI Beat Mapping and Automated Track Recommendations
PCDJ has released version 4.1 of its DJ and karaoke software, integrating AI analysis tools to assist with beat grid alignment and track selection for Windows and Mac users.

Clearwater-based Digital 1 Audio has launched DEX 4.1, the latest iteration of its flagship DJ, video, and karaoke software. The update introduces a new AI engine capable of identifying tempo and downbeats, aimed at improving quantization and beat grid accuracy for live performances.
Among the new features is "Next Picks," a recommendation tool that analyzes music libraries based on energy ratings, mood, and harmonic compatibility to suggest subsequent tracks. The update also expands the software’s stem-processing capabilities, providing higher-quality isolation of vocals and instrumental elements, alongside AI-synchronized lyric support for karaoke hosting.
According to PCDJ Director Ryan Sherr, the software is designed to automate technical preparation, allowing DJs to dedicate more attention to audience engagement. The release also includes performance patches for audio interface connectivity and a rebuilt playback engine to improve audio fidelity during key-shifting and time-stretching.
DEX 4.1 is compatible with Windows 10 and macOS 12 or newer. The company continues to maintain its focus on live-performance tools for DJs and karaoke professionals.
