Peabody reports third quarter 2026 financial results
Peabody posted a net loss of $32.8 million for the third quarter of 2026 as increased export prices supported a recovery in adjusted EBITDA across its seaborne segments.

Peabody recorded a net loss of $32.8 million, or $0.27 per diluted share, for the third quarter ending September 30, 2026. This represents a reduction in losses compared to the $70.1 million loss reported in the same period of 2025. Adjusted EBITDA reached $97.5 million for the quarter.
CEO Jim Grech stated that the company saw broad improvements across its portfolio, with all segments achieving positive adjusted EBITDA. The seaborne thermal segment saw a 26 percent increase in adjusted EBITDA quarter-over-quarter, bolstered by export prices exceeding $100 per ton. Although the Centurion metallurgical mine faced higher costs due to geological faults, it met its sales volume targets of 0.58 million tons.
The company is currently focused on clearing the faulted zone at its Centurion operations to improve productivity in the fourth quarter. Additionally, Peabody initiated a capital allocation update, repurchasing $38.9 million in convertible notes and declaring a quarterly dividend of $0.075 per share, payable in December.
