Peking-Xiong'an Express Rail Begins Full-Line Test Operation
China's first high-speed rail line designed for 200 km/h with bus-like operations has commenced full-line test runs. The route connects Xiong'an New Area to Beijing Daxing International Airport.
The first high-speed rail line in China designed for 200 kilometers per hour and operating in a bus-like mode has officially started its full-line test operation. This line, a key project for the one-hour metropolitan circle connecting Beijing and Xiong'an, marks a significant step towards integrated operations with Beijing's Daxing Airport Express.
The express rail stretches approximately 86 kilometers, starting from Xiong'an Intercity Station and spanning three cities across Beijing and Hebei. Upon reaching Beijing Daxing International Airport, it will connect with the Beijing subway's Daxing Airport line, allowing for integrated operation to Beijing Caoqiao Station. Future extensions to Lize Station will further extend this direct service.
This new line combines the speed advantages of intercity rail with the high-frequency, on-demand characteristics of urban transit. Passengers traveling from Xiong'an New Area will be able to reach Beijing Caoqiao Station directly and seamlessly connect to the entire Beijing subway network using a single ticket and code.
The full-line test operation, running from Xiong'an Intercity Station to Caoqiao Station, will proceed in two phases. The first phase focuses on testing the integrated functionality of vehicles, signals, and communication systems, alongside operational team training. The second phase will involve "running the schedule" tests to verify key performance indicators like punctuality and timetable adherence, ensuring readiness for initial operations. This rail link is intended to support Beijing's strategy of relocating non-capital functions.
