Metso Oyj's Board of Directors and President and CEO Pekka Vauramo have agreed to extend his contract until the end of 2024. Vauramo has led the company since 2018.

Metso Oyj's Board of Directors and President and CEO Pekka Vauramo have agreed to extend Vauramo's contract through the end of 2024. His previous contract extension was announced in October 2020, setting his tenure through the end of 2023.
Pekka Vauramo initially joined Metso as President and CEO in November 2018 and continued in the role for Metso Outotec following the merger completed in July 2020. The company provides technology, end-to-end solutions, and services for the aggregates, minerals processing, and metals refining industries globally.
Kari Stadigh, Chair of Metso Oyj's Board of Directors, cited the need for leadership continuity amid the current uncertain global environment as a key reason for the extension. He stated that Metso Outotec has successfully executed its strategy post-merger and is well-positioned for future growth.
Vauramo expressed his satisfaction with the company's development and future opportunities, having been part of its journey since the merger. Metso Oyj employs over 15,000 people in more than 50 countries, reporting sales of approximately EUR 4.2 billion in 2021.
