Irish medical device company Perfuze has closed a €22.5 million (approximately USD 25 million) Series A funding round. The company focuses on developing next-generation catheter-based aspiration technology for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke.

The funding round was led by new investors LSP, investing from its LSP Health Economics Fund 2, and Seroba Life Sciences. The round was also supported by new investor SV Health Investors, investing from its Medtech Convergence Fund, and existing investors including Earlybird Health, the HBM-MedFocus Fund, and Enterprise Ireland.

Proceeds from the financing will be used to advance US clinical study and regulatory clearance for its Millipede System. Funds will also support ongoing product development and initiate commercialization of its technology.

Founded in 2018, Perfuze aims to improve treatment outcomes for stroke patients by enabling faster and more complete clot removal during procedures. Their technology is designed to navigate complex neurovascular anatomy.

Stroke is the second leading cause of death globally and a major cause of disability. Perfuze's efforts aim to provide more effective and cost-efficient therapy for ischemic stroke patients.
