Pernod Ricard Completes Majority Share Acquisition of Smooth Ambler

Pernod Ricard North America, through its subsidiary NBV Investments Inc., announced on January 31, 2017, the completion of its acquisition of a majority share in Smooth Ambler Spirits Co. The West Virginia-based distiller is known for its award-winning spirits, including Smooth Ambler Contradiction Bourbon.

Founded in 2009, Smooth Ambler utilizes the natural resources of the Appalachian region, such as its water and air quality, combined with modern distilling equipment to produce its range of artisanal spirits. The company also engages in merchant bottling of select spirits.

The acquisition is expected to enhance Pernod Ricard's presence in the U.S. spirits market, particularly in the growing premium bourbon category. NBV Investments aims to invest in and develop emerging brands while preserving the unique brand story and entrepreneurial spirit of its acquisitions.
