Pernod Ricard partners with IUCN on sustainable agriculture initiative
Pernod Ricard becomes the first corporate partner for the International Union for Conservation of Nature's new "Agriculture and Land Health Initiative".

Pernod Ricard has entered into a partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), becoming the first company to support its new "Agriculture and Land Health Initiative" (ALHI).
The announcement was made by Pernod Ricard Chairman and CEO Alexandre Ricard during a CEO Summit event attended by French President Emmanuel Macron and IUCN Director General Bruno Oberle. The ALHI aims to foster a shared vision and encourage concrete projects involving public and private stakeholders, including governments, NGOs, businesses, and scientists, focused on sustainable agriculture.
For Pernod Ricard, this partnership aligns with its long-standing commitment to environmental protection, which dates back to the founding of the Paul Ricard Oceanographic Institute in 1966. The company emphasizes that its products derive their character from natural ingredients and the terroirs where they are grown, making the preservation of biodiversity and healthy ecosystems crucial for its long-term economic sustainability.
The group's CSR roadmap, 'Good Times from a Good Place,' includes commitments to protecting terroirs and biodiversity while addressing climate change challenges. Pernod Ricard collaborates with farmers and suppliers to implement sustainable or regenerative agricultural practices and biodiversity protection programs across its global operations, including in Cognac, Champagne, India, New Zealand, and Ireland.
Alexandre Ricard stated that protecting biodiversity is not only a moral obligation but also an economic imperative for the company's longevity. He expressed pride in Pernod Ricard's role in actively supporting the IUCN's efforts to promote a more land- and ecosystem-respecting form of agriculture.
