Pernod Ricard Reports 17% Organic Sales Growth for First Half
Pernod Ricard announced a 17% organic sales growth for the first half of its fiscal year ending December 31, 2021, reaching €5.96 billion. Profit from recurring operations also saw significant organic growth.

Pernod Ricard, the spirits and wine producer, reported a 17% organic sales growth for the first half of its fiscal year 2022, which concluded on December 31, 2021. Total reported sales reached €5.96 billion, marking a 20% increase, aided by favorable foreign exchange impacts.
The company experienced broad-based growth across all its regions. The Americas saw a 14% increase, Asia and Rest of World grew by 16%, and Europe expanded by 21%. Sales of strategic international brands, including Jameson, Martell, and Absolut, all posted double-digit growth. The specialty brands portfolio, particularly American whiskeys, also maintained strong momentum.
Profit from recurring operations grew organically by 22% to €1.998 billion. The gross margin expanded by 39 basis points, and the overall contribution margin increased by 21%, even with higher advertising and promotion spending. This performance highlights the company's ability to manage pricing and operational efficiencies amidst inflationary pressures.
Sales in the second quarter of the fiscal year increased by 14% organically, a slight deceleration from the 20% growth recorded in the first quarter. This moderation is attributed partly to a tougher comparison base in certain markets. Pernod Ricard also noted strong growth in its innovation products, which increased by 43%.
