Pernod Ricard, a global leader in wines and spirits, has announced an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Código 1530 Tequila. The move aims to bolster the company's presence in the expanding agave spirits category, particularly in the United States.

Founded in 2016, Código 1530 is based in Jalisco, Mexico, and produces ultra-premium and prestige tequilas using traditional recipes. The brand's products are aged in French oak Cabernet wine barrels and are available across all 50 US states, with an international presence in over 30 markets.

This acquisition will enhance Pernod Ricard's existing agave portfolio, which includes brands such as Olmeca, Altos, and Avion. The company will also add two new mezcal offerings from Código, further solidifying its leadership in the mezcal market, which also features brands like Del Maguey.

Alexandre Ricard, Chairman and CEO of Pernod Ricard, stated that Código's product range strengthens their ultra-premium agave offerings in the US, a market experiencing significant growth in this category. He expressed a shared vision with Código's founders to accelerate the brand's global success.
