Pet Care Ecosystem Supertails Shifts Focus to Profitability

Indian online platform Supertails, which offers a wide array of pet care services, is now focused on establishing its economic sustainability after a period of rapid expansion. Founded in 2021 by Varun Sadana, Aman Tekriwal, and Vineet Khanna, the company has evolved from an initial online pet food store to also encompass accessories, pharmacy, teleconsultations, private-label pet food, veterinary clinics, and quick commerce.

Supertails has experienced significant revenue growth, projecting INR 350-400 crore for the current fiscal year, and serves nearly one million pet parents. Operating revenue rose from INR 109 crore to over INR 200 crore between FY25 and FY26, with losses remaining broadly unchanged despite investments.

"We've entered a phase where this is no longer just about growth. It's about building a business where the unit economics and profitability make complete sense," said co-founder Vineet Khanna.

The company's strategy involves vertical expansion across the entire pet care basket, leveraging healthcare to deepen customer engagement, and enhancing the productivity of its existing infrastructure. Supertails is currently avoiding aggressive expansion into new cities, although services like insurance, boarding, and at-home care remain on its longer-term roadmap.
