Petriina Anttila First Female Inspector Pilot in Finland
Petriina Anttila has become the first woman in Finland to complete an inspector pilot qualification for aircraft. She works as a flight instructor at Patria Pilot Training and as a first officer at Finnair.

Petriina Anttila has achieved a milestone as the first woman in Finland to successfully complete an inspector pilot qualification for aircraft, the company announced on April 30, 2020. Anttila serves as a flight instructor at Patria Pilot Training, based at Tampere-Pirkkala Airport, and as a first officer for Finnair on Airbus A330 aircraft.
The inspector pilot qualification was obtained during 2019. Pilot proficiency is regularly assessed, with inspector pilots responsible for conducting practical flight skill evaluations. Finland has approximately 200 inspector pilots, whose qualifications are managed by Traficom.
Anttila had previously conducted training inspection flights with students and decided to pursue the qualification when the course became available. She has consistently aimed to advance her career and acquire further qualifications as her experience grew.
A typical workday at Pirkkala begins with a morning briefing that covers aspects such as weather conditions and special operations at the airport. In early 2020, Anttila and her colleagues observed testing of candidate aircraft for the HX project at Pirkkala, which led to some limitations in training activities.
