Pfizer Inc. has published a guide to demystify its product pipeline page, which outlines the company's investigational medicines and vaccines currently under development. The page serves as a window into the future of medicine, highlighting areas where the company has invested significantly in scientific research.

The guide addresses the terminology, numbers, and phases of clinical trials presented on the pipeline page. Pfizer acknowledges that developing new drugs and vaccines is a lengthy process, often taking nearly a decade, with a low success rate for individual candidates. The company emphasizes that candidates on the pipeline have undergone extensive preclinical development before human testing.

Clinical trials are divided into four phases, each designed to assess specific aspects of a drug or vaccine's safety and efficacy. The pathway through these phases is rigorous, with only a fraction of initial candidates progressing to approval.
