The German Pharmacists Association (DAV) hosted its economic forum in Berlin on May 5-6, 2026, bringing together experts from pharmacy, politics, business, and media to discuss the future of healthcare.

The event addressed ongoing changes in the financing of Germany's public health insurance, submitted austerity recommendations, and the ongoing pharmacy sector reform. DAV Chairman Dr. Hans-Peter Hubmann presented the association's political situation report during the forum.

Discussions on the first day of the congress also covered primary healthcare and prevention, digitalization, and the electronic patient record, with contributions from experts at the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG).

On the second day, Dr. Sandra Zimmermann from the WifOR Institute highlighted the significance of investments in health for a resilient society. Debates also took place on the use of biosimilars in pharmacies and future political outlooks, featuring parliamentary members from various parties.
