Earlier this year, physical therapist Andrew Genova, Managing Partner at MVPT Physical Therapy, a partner brand of Cypress Health Partners, traveled to Honduras as part of a humanitarian medical mission. The trip provided orthopedic care to patients with limited access to healthcare.

Working through the nonprofit organization One World Surgery, Genova joined a multidisciplinary team of orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and rehabilitation professionals. During the five-day mission, four orthopedic surgeons performed approximately 57 orthopedic surgeries, assisting patients who had waited years for treatment.

Genova emphasized the vital role physical therapists play in helping patients regain function, mobility, and independence after surgery. He worked one-on-one with patients to help them stand, walk, and learn safe movement techniques. Due to the surgical team's use of spinal anesthesia over general anesthesia, many patients were able to begin walking and be discharged within one to two hours post-surgery.

Cypress Health Partners is the largest network of outpatient physical therapy clinics in New England. The organization manages over 1.4 million patient visits annually and is committed to achieving industry-leading clinical outcomes through investment in clinician development and innovation.
