Piedmont Natural Gas implements fifth rate reduction of 2026 in North Carolina
Piedmont Natural Gas has reduced rates for North Carolina customers, marking the fifth downward adjustment this year as winter heating demand begins.

Piedmont Natural Gas has lowered rates for its North Carolina customers, with the change taking effect on November 1. The adjustment is expected to reduce the average annual residential bill by approximately 12 dollars.
This marks the fifth rate reduction for the company in 2026, following similar actions in January, February, April, and June. Cumulatively, these adjustments have reduced average residential annual costs by about 9 percent, or 112 dollars. These changes are subject to review and approval by the North Carolina Utilities Commission to ensure rates remain in line with regional regulatory standards.
Emily Henson, president of Piedmont Natural Gas, stated that the company continues to manage operational costs to alleviate financial pressure on customers during the winter season. The firm also provides various payment assistance programs and energy-saving tools for residential consumers to help manage utility expenditures.
