Pine Labs Appoints Jayaram Karthik as Chief Operating Officer

Fintech platform Pine Labs has appointed Jayaram Karthik, formerly SVP of business operations at Razorpay, as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). The move aims to enhance the company's operational capabilities and support its ongoing growth.

In his new role, Karthik will oversee operations and merchant experiences across India and Pine Labs' international markets. His responsibilities will include developing technology-driven operating models designed to create seamless, trusted, and locally relevant experiences for merchants.

Karthik brings extensive experience from previous leadership roles, including over five years at rival payment startup Razorpay. He also held senior operating positions at major companies such as American Express, Citibank, Amazon, and Tata Play, positioning him to drive Pine Labs' global operational strategy.

Pine Labs CEO Amrish Rau stated that the company's future growth hinges on the effective integration of technology and operations to deliver customer experiences. With operations spanning over 20 countries, standardizing these processes is crucial for continued global expansion.

The company has also been expanding its product offerings and investing in artificial intelligence. In FY26, Pine Labs reported a 19% increase in revenue to ₹2,711 crore and turned a profit of ₹113 crore, compared to a loss the previous year. Revenue and profit saw significant increases in the June quarter as well.
