Ping An Digital Bank Enters Private Funds Market

Ping An Digital Bank, a Hong Kong-based digital lender and subsidiary of Lufax Holding, has launched private fund offerings for professional investors. This move signifies the bank's entry into the high-end wealth management market in the city.

The bank highlighted this as a first for a local digital bank, combining its digital capabilities with dedicated offline wealth management support. Additionally, it offers semi-liquid fund products in partnership with JP Morgan Asset Management and Aberdeen Investments.

Hong Kong's asset and wealth management industry is substantial, with HK$42.2 trillion (US$5.37 trillion) in assets under management at the end of 2025, according to the Securities and Futures Commission. Private banking and private wealth management assets accounted for nearly HK$12.9 trillion (US$1.64 trillion) of this total.

Competitors in the digital lending space include ZA Bank, which positions itself as Hong Kong's first digital bank. Ping An Digital Bank's expansion into private funds suggests a strategy to broaden its service offerings and capture a larger share of the financial services market.
