Chinese laser technology firm Pingzhun Laser (688826.SH) set a new record for first-day returns on the A-share market with its listing on Shanghai's STAR Market today. The company's shares opened at a 488% premium and continued to climb throughout the trading session.
Calculated at the day's highest intraday price, the profit per lot (500 shares) for initial subscribers reached approximately 556,600 yuan (around $77,000 USD). This marks the largest first-day return recorded since the full implementation of the registration-based IPO system on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges.
Founded in late 2017, Pingzhun Laser is a high-tech enterprise focused on the research and development, and production of high-precision fiber lasers. The company previously achieved a global record by developing a 1064nm single-frequency continuous fiber laser with a stable production capacity of 300W, up from 180W.
In its announcement, Pingzhun Laser stated that the capital raised will be allocated to industrialization projects for precision lasers, establishing a research and development center in Wuhan, and expanding its headquarters' R&D base. These initiatives aim to consolidate the company's market share through expanded production and ongoing technological advancements.
