Pinwheel Launches Retro-Inspired Landline Phone for Kids
Kid-friendly tech company Pinwheel has launched a new landline phone designed to let children stay connected without smartphone distractions.

Kid-friendly tech company Pinwheel announced Tuesday the launch of Pinwheel Home, a modern take on the classic household phone designed to let children stay connected without the distractions of a smartphone. The device is positioned as an introductory phone for children ages 5 to 10 before they are ready for a smartphone.
Pinwheel, which already sells kid-friendly smartphones and launched a smartwatch for kids last year, aims to bring back the landline experience for a new generation. The company states that the Pinwheel Home encourages more meaningful, one-on-one conversations and gives children independence to call friends and family.
Instead of texting or social media, the Pinwheel Home is built solely for voice calls. This allows children to practice basic phone skills without borrowing a parent's device. The launch comes amid growing parental concern over screen time and technology's impact on child development, offering an alternative to the constantly connected smartphone.
The Pinwheel Home is available in three colors: Classic White, Pastel Blue, and Mint Green. It is priced at $149.
