Pixel Federation Uses Cinema 4D for Mobile Game Development

Slovakian free-to-play game developer Pixel Federation has employed Cinema 4D and a suite of Adobe tools to craft the visually engaging 'TrainStation 2' simulation game. The title serves as a sequel to the well-received 'TrainStation,' with its development prioritizing player community feedback.

Built around vibrant visuals and a strong community focus, 'TrainStation 2' aims to offer players an immersive train simulation experience. Motion Designer Peter Kmet detailed how the company's use of Cinema 4D, Octane, Photoshop, and After Effects led to a successful visual output. The transition from Flash to mobile platforms provided an opportunity to refresh the game's aesthetic and leverage new technologies available within the mobile gaming space.

The game's visual design involved careful consideration of data storage versus detail. The team ultimately opted for vertex color with minimal texture use to manage mobile device limitations. Kmet highlighted the team's creativity manifest in the game's in-game events, which introduce variety and surprise for players.

Kmet's workflow involved Cinema 4D for conceptualization and pre-visualization, Photoshop for illustration and idea communication, and Octane and After Effects for final animation and effects. Pixel Federation is recognized for its commitment to its community, continuing to prioritize player input while developing new, entertaining game experiences.
