The problems appear to be most pronounced during gaming. Users have shared accounts on platforms like Reddit and X (formerly Twitter) detailing observed frame rate drops, stuttering, and even complete game freezes post-update. While the issues affect various applications, they seem to particularly impact popular mobile titles such as Clash Royale, Hill Climb Racing 2, and Brawl Stars.
For some users, playing Brawl Stars has become unplayable, with severe lag and stuttering even occurring when navigating menus. Reports indicate a notable decrease in performance that negatively affects the overall gaming experience.
The stable release of Android 17 was initially rolled out in mid-May, with wider distribution commencing in mid-June. Google has not yet publicly commented on the reported performance issues or indicated if a fix is underway.
