PLAN-B NET ZERO has entered into a partnership with German environmental technology company everwave, launching a joint initiative focused on removing plastic waste from rivers. The campaign's initial phase in Cambodia has resulted in the collection of 10,000 kilograms of waste from waterways.

The collaboration addresses the significant global issue of plastic pollution entering oceans, with approximately 11 million tons annually, largely attributed to rivers. Everwave employs specialized waste collection boats, containment barriers, and on-site cleanups to intercept pollutants before they reach the sea. The company also utilizes AI to optimize collection routes and mobile sorting and recycling solutions to reintegrate materials into the circular economy.

This partnership aims to advance the shared vision of a clean and sustainable future. Julia Schnitger, Head of Marketing at PLAN-B NET ZERO, stated, "Without a clean planet, clean energy is of no use." The initiative is currently concentrated on cleaning rivers and canals in Cambodia, with plans to expand its operations.

Everwave has previously conducted similar operations in Albania and Thailand, removing over 2.4 million kilograms of plastic from rivers. Their operational model emphasizes close collaboration with local authorities and communities to ensure the long-term impact and sustainability of their cleanup efforts.
