PLAN-B NET ZERO and everwave Launch River Cleanup Initiative
PLAN-B NET ZERO and environmental tech firm everwave have partnered to remove 10,000 kilograms of trash from rivers in Cambodia.
Energy company PLAN-B NET ZERO has launched a partnership with environmental scale-up everwave to combat plastic waste in waterways.
The collaboration began in Cambodia, where the partners have already collected 10,000 kilograms of waste from rivers and canals surrounding cities. Studies indicate that around 80 percent of plastic waste in oceans originates from approximately 1,656 rivers globally. Without effective countermeasures, ocean plastic pollution could nearly triple by 2040.
Everwave utilizes garbage collection boats, barriers, and manual cleanups to intercept plastic before it reaches the sea. The company also employs mobile sorting and recycling solutions and AI to optimize collection routes for sustainable water body cleaning. Previously, everwave has removed over 2.4 million kilograms of plastic from rivers in Cambodia, Albania, and Thailand.
"We want to make the best possible use of our good energy, because without a clean planet, clean energy won't help," stated Julia Schnitger, Head of Marketing at PLAN-B NET ZERO. The initiative aims to advance both companies' vision for a clean and sustainable future.
Everwave conducts cleanups directly on-site and collaborates closely with local authorities and partners. This approach ensures long-term anchoring of measures within regions and the creation of measurable impact.
