Energy sector company PLAN-B NET ZERO has partnered with environmental technology firm everwave to address plastic pollution in global waterways. The collaboration's first joint operation in Cambodia resulted in the collection of 10,000 kilograms of plastic waste from rivers.

Operating under the slogan "1 Euro = 1 Kilogram of Waste," the initiative tackles the issue of approximately 11 million tons of plastic entering oceans annually. A significant portion, up to 80%, originates from around 1,656 rivers. Everwave specializes in intercepting plastic before it reaches the sea, employing specialized collection boats, barriers, and local cleanup crews. The company also utilizes mobile sorting and recycling solutions, enhanced by AI for route optimization.

The Cambodian operation focused on rivers and canals in urban areas. This partnership aims to align PLAN-B NET ZERO's clean energy goals with everwave's mission for cleaner water bodies. Julia Schnitger, Head of Marketing at PLAN-B NET ZERO, stated, "Together with everwave, we have already removed 10,000 kilograms of waste from rivers in Cambodia. We want to use our good energy in the best possible way, because without a clean planet, there is no clean energy."

Everwave conducts its cleanup operations directly on-site, collaborating with local authorities to ensure sustainable, long-term impact. This collaborative effort seeks to generate measurable positive change and contribute to a sustainable future.
