Playing for Keeps and America SCORES to Upgrade 14 School Athletic Fields in San Francisco
A new partnership between Playing for Keeps and America SCORES Bay Area will renovate 14 school fields, expanding recreational access for over 4,000 students.
The Playing for Keeps Foundation and America SCORES Bay Area (ASBA) have partnered to renovate or construct 14 synthetic athletic fields across San Francisco. The initiative is designed to address the issue of 'play deserts'—areas where students lack safe and functional spaces for physical activity.
This infrastructure project aims to provide more than 4,000 students with improved facilities annually. By upgrading school grounds, the partnership seeks to integrate accessible sports infrastructure directly into the educational environment.
Urban planning experts have frequently cited the lack of school-adjacent athletic space as a barrier to child development and community health. This project represents a concentrated effort to mitigate these deficits within the San Francisco school district.
