Sony's PlayStation Network (PSN) faced widespread service disruptions on July 24, coinciding with the start of an open beta test for the game Marvel's Midnight Suns. The game requires mandatory PSN account linking, which led to numerous players being unable to log into the service shortly after the test's commencement.
Data from Downdetector indicated a sharp increase in error reports, with over 1500 submissions every 15 minutes after the test began. The outages affected players across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox, as the game mandated PSN account connectivity for all versions.
Arc System Works and Sony acknowledged the issue, announcing the temporary offline maintenance of the Marvel's Midnight Suns open test servers. The maintenance was projected to last for several hours, aiming to restore normal service operations.
Service was eventually restored as planned later in the day. The game's developers confirmed that the servers were back online and functioning correctly, allowing players to reconnect.
