Plex Integrates Movie Ticket Sales Through Fandango Partnership
Plex is expanding its services beyond media server software by partnering with Fandango to sell movie theater tickets. Users can now find showtimes and purchase tickets for films playing in cinemas directly through the Plex platform.

Plex, a company known for its media server software that allows users to manage and stream their own movie collections, is now venturing into movie ticket sales through a new integration with Fandango.
The partnership aims to leverage Plex's content discovery capabilities to drive ticket purchases for films currently in theaters. Starting immediately for U.S. users, Plex will feature a Fandango ticketing option on movie pages, directing users to find showtimes and buy tickets. This initiative also provides studios and advertisers with sales attribution data via Kochava.
Fandango, which sells tickets for approximately 31,000 movie screens across the U.S., will benefit from Plex's user base. The integration allows Fandango to gain insights into audience intent by analyzing data from Plex's streaming service, including user ratings and viewing habits.
This move represents Plex's effort to monetize its platform beyond its core software offerings and to create a more comprehensive entertainment discovery and transaction experience for its users, bridging the gap between home streaming and cinema attendance.
