Plusnet and OpenNet Partner to Expand German Fiber Network Access

Plusnet GmbH, a German telecommunications company focused on business customers, and OpenNet, a Danish platform operator with a German subsidiary, have entered into a strategic cooperation. The partnership aims to accelerate the expansion of fiber optic networks in Germany by leveraging and interconnecting existing Open Access infrastructures.

Through this agreement, Plusnet gains access to over 350,000 fiber connections within municipal networks in Schleswig-Holstein via OpenNet's platform. This significantly expands Plusnet's marketable network reach via its Netbridge connectivity trading platform, benefiting both private and business customers.

The cooperation also provides benefits for the municipal network operators in Schleswig-Holstein, enhancing their network utilization by connecting them to Plusnet's customer base and wholesale partners. In the future, these operators may also utilize Plusnet's nationwide fiber footprint.

Both Plusnet and OpenNet highlighted the importance of such platform collaborations for fostering Open Access and driving the development of future-proof fiber networks across Germany. The agreement represents a further step in promoting open access models within the German telecommunications sector.
