Polestar 2 production ceases as successor model planned for 2027
Polestar has ended production of its Polestar 2 model after six years on the market, with over 190,000 units sold globally.

Polestar has officially ceased production of the Polestar 2. Manufacturing facilities in China, Norway, and Sweden are no longer accepting orders for the vehicle, which entered the market in mid-2020 and achieved a total global sales volume of 190,000 units.
While production has halted, existing inventory remains available in markets such as the United Kingdom to meet demand until the next-generation model arrives. The market performance of the Polestar 2 has recently been surpassed by the Polestar 4 crossover, reflecting evolving consumer preferences within the brand's portfolio.
CEO Michael Lohscheller stated that the forthcoming successor will retain the core attributes of the original while addressing technical shortcomings identified in previous iterations. The new vehicle is expected to feature a slightly longer frame than the 4.6-meter predecessor.
