Poll: Americans Want Legal Access to Peptides Via Prescription
A new national poll reveals that 52% of Americans support obtaining peptides through a U.S. pharmacy and doctor's prescription. Only 3% oppose this measure.
Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. – A national survey of 1,000 adults indicates a significant majority support legal access to peptides through U.S. pharmacies with a doctor's prescription. The poll found 52% in favor of this regulated pathway, with only 3% expressing opposition, and 45% undecided.
The survey, conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy and commissioned by Peppies.com, was released in anticipation of a crucial meeting by the FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee. The committee is set to consider whether seven peptides should regain a lawful compounding pathway.
Beyond the core issue of peptide access, the poll also shed light on broader healthcare preferences. A majority (60%) believe the U.S. healthcare system should prioritize illness prevention over treatment of existing conditions. Furthermore, 54% feel decisions about medication legality should be primarily driven by patient health outcomes, not pharmaceutical industry investment.
Despite the majority support for a legal pathway, the survey highlighted a significant lack of awareness, with nearly half (49%) of adults having heard nothing about peptides. However, 5% of adults, representing over 13 million individuals, reported household use of compounded peptides in the past three years, suggesting a substantial grey market operating without formal oversight.
