Polyester, PTA, MEG Prices Rise in India Amid Limited Supply and Higher Feedstock Costs
Prices for polyester and polyester-cotton yarn in India have increased due to limited supply and China's easing of COVID-19 restrictions. Price hikes affect PC, poly spun, and recycled polyester fibers.

Prices for polyester and polyester-cotton yarn in India have risen due to restricted supply and the relaxation of COVID-19 limitations in China. The cost of PC and poly spun yarn increased by INR 3โ7 per kilogram, while recycled polyester fiber saw a rise of INR 2โ3 per kilogram.
Spinning mills were reportedly unwilling to sell yarn at low prices, contributing to the tight supply. In the Ludhiana market, mills reduced their product offerings to prevent price drops, which allowed retailers and wholesalers to increase yarn costs.
Reliance Industries Limited, a key supplier, also raised its raw material prices following China's policy changes. For instance, 30-count poly spun yarn was priced between INR 135-136 per kg and 40-count at INR 145-146 per kg, including GST.
The surge in prices is also linked to rising feedstock costs. The easing of restrictions in China is expected to boost demand for polyester raw materials globally, potentially further influencing market prices.
