Ponsse Marks Production Facility Expansion and 13,000th Forest Machine Production
Forest machine manufacturer Ponsse Oyj has celebrated the topping-out phase of its largest-ever production facility expansion and the completion of its 13,000th forest machine at its Vieremä plant.

Ponsse Oyj, a manufacturer of forest machines, has reached two significant milestones at its Vieremä facility in Finland. The company has celebrated the topping-out phase of its largest-ever production facility expansion project and the completion of the 13,000th Ponsse forest machine. The latest machine, a PONSSE Ergo 8w, was delivered to German customer FoWi GmbH & Co.
This delivery also marks the beginning of a jubilee year for Ponsse Oyj and its German distributor Wahlers Forsttechnik GmbH, as their distribution and service collaboration agreement for German-speaking regions of Europe was signed 25 years ago. Ponsse has made significant investments in its production facilities, increasing the factory's area from 2.7 hectares to 4 hectares.
The expansion aims to improve production quality, flexibility, safety, and productivity. The new facilities will enable faster customization of machines to customer needs and enhance the company's ability to respond to changing market conditions. The production facility is scheduled for completion by the end of the year and is expected to be the world's most advanced facility for forest machine production.
"Our strong focus on the development of cut-to-length forest machines requires continuous development of our production. Only in this way can we meet our customers' needs and remain at the forefront of technology in the demanding forest machine market," stated Ponsse Oyj President and CEO Juho Nummela. The Vieremä factory currently employs 570 people, with 390 in production roles. All Ponsse forest machines are manufactured in Vieremä.
