Forest machine manufacturer Ponsse Oyj has released its interim report for the first quarter of 2026, showing a net loss of EUR 2.5 million. This compares to a profit of EUR 14.4 million in the same period last year.

The company's order intake at the beginning of the year rose to EUR 193.3 million, an increase from EUR 184.5 million in the prior year. However, the order book at the end of the period stood at EUR 167.9 million, slightly down from EUR 187.7 million a year ago.

Net sales decreased by approximately 10% to EUR 166.8 million, from EUR 185.4 million in the previous year. The operating profit was EUR 1.5 million, a significant drop from EUR 13.2 million in the first quarter of 2025.

Management stated that forest machine sales developed strongly during the first quarter, particularly in Sweden, Central Europe, and Latin America, while the Finnish market was challenging. The factory's low capacity utilization early in the year impacted invoicing, but production has since returned to normal two-shift operations and a five-day work week due to the robust order intake.
