Chinese autonomous vehicle company Pony.ai has responded to an incident where a passenger's finger was caught in a car door on October 3, which circulated widely online.

The company clarified that the incident occurred when a passenger was boarding and a person accompanying them manually closed the door, inadvertently trapping the passenger's finger. Pony.ai stated they immediately assisted with the situation and cooperated with the police.

Following a review of provided video footage, the police determined the incident to be an accidental event and not a traffic accident. Pony.ai also reported assisting the passenger with medical attention, confirming no serious injuries and that the individual has returned home to rest.

Pony.ai's core businesses include Robotaxi services, Robotruck services, and intelligent solutions. The company is advancing commercial deployment across markets including China, the United States, and Europe. Pony.ai aims to expand its Robotaxi fleet to over 3,500 vehicles by the end of 2026.
