PORR AG Completes Demolition of Post am Rochus in Vienna

PORR AG has finalized demolition activities for the Post am Rochus building, located in Vienna's Erdberg district. The project involved clearing the site of the former six-story postal headquarters to make way for new construction.

The demolition was carried out by PORR's subsidiary, Prajo & Co. The construction site presented several challenges, being situated directly adjacent to a busy market square and above a subway station. A specific section of the old building, featuring a 1920s Art Deco facade, was preserved. This part was completely gutted, and its roof structure was removed down to the ceiling of the floor below.

Steel elements were dismantled into transportable sizes on-site before being loaded into containers for removal. All demolition and waste disposal processes adhered strictly to Austrian waste management regulations. The project took place in 2015.
