PORR to Expand Vienna Airport Terminal
PORR AG has secured a contract, as part of a consortium, to expand the southern area of Vienna Airport. The project is valued at EUR 265 million and is scheduled for completion in 2027.

PORR AG, in a joint venture with ORTNER and ELIN, has been awarded a contract for the expansion of the southern area of Vienna Airport. The total order volume for the consortium is EUR 265 million, with the project expected to be completed by 2027. The expansion aims to significantly enhance the passenger experience.
The project will add approximately 70,000 square meters of space, including new bus gates, waiting areas, lounge facilities, and extensive retail and gastronomy spaces. The design emphasizes a modern, open, and spacious environment with a prominent glass facade, intended to improve passenger comfort and streamline movement.
This complex construction project will utilize advanced methodologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) for integrated digital planning and LEAN design and construction principles to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness. PORR's involvement from the early planning stages through Early Contractor Involvement is expected to facilitate process improvements and potential cost savings.
Further technological integration includes the use of augmented reality (AR) for on-site inspections and virtual reality (VR) for design visualization. The consortium will serve as the general contractor, collaborating with Flughafen Wien AG on the execution of this significant infrastructure upgrade.
