Luxury car manufacturer Porsche has announced a significant restructuring plan that involves cutting up to one in five jobs by 2035. The German automaker aims to enhance its long-term competitiveness and operational efficiency through this initiative.
The company's "Future Package" program is expected to impact approximately 9,000 employees. However, Porsche has committed to guaranteeing employment and site security through the end of 2035, ruling out compulsory redundancies during this period. The plan includes a €2.1 billion investment into its Zuffenhausen and Weissach sites to support future vehicle production, development activities, and programs.
Porsche CEO Oliver Blume stated that the company needs to become more efficient, robust, and simpler, while also reducing costs. He emphasized that economic success is crucial for ensuring employee security.
