Power Knot Ocean has successfully installed its LFC-100 biodigester system on Les Alizés, an offshore installation vessel operated by Jan De Nul Group, now branded as World Builders. The vessel is designed for installing next-generation offshore wind turbines.

As one of the largest crane vessels, Les Alizés operates at sea for extended periods. The crew onboard generates significant food waste, posing disposal challenges far from port facilities.

The LFC-100 biodigester addresses this by using microorganisms to convert organic waste into water, eliminating the need for waste storage and offloading at ports. Since becoming operational in late March 2026, the unit has processed over 7,500 kg of food waste in under four months.

Jan De Nul Group has committed to installing LFC biodigesters on all future new builds, integrating the technology as a standard component for managing onboard waste and supporting its sustainability initiatives.
